Around The Cud Life

Situated in the heart of North Yorkshire, England, we are close to a number of beautiful sites within walking and driving distance and with excellent public transport links close by.

Set at the beginning of the Yorkshire Dales (Nidderdale) and a close drive to Wharfedale, Swaledale and all the other beautiful Dales too. We are also close to the Vale of York, the North York Moors and the Yorkshire coast is within easy driving distance.

The bus stops at the end of the farm lane with a regular service to Harrogate (where further buses or trains go directly to York, Leeds and many other destinations) or Ripon via the beautiful village of Ripley which is definitely worth a stop to explore Ripley Castle, the lovely gift shops and of course, the world-famous Ripley ice cream!

Harrogate is just a 30-minute walk from the farm or 5 minutes by car or bus.

A renowned spa town, Harrogate has an amazing selection of shops, art galleries, cafes and restaurants, including the famous Betty's Tea Rooms. The Pump Room and Turkish Baths are worth a visit as are the beautiful Valley Gardens which are open all year round and free of charge.

The pretty market town of Knaresborough is just a 10-minute drive away, passing Nidd and Nidd Hall Hotel en route. There are lots of unique, independent shops, lovely cafe's, restaurants and boating on the river. The market is held on a Wednesday with local produce for sale as well as a choice of other delights. The 2nd Sunday of each month sees a Farmer's Market too. Knaresborough is also home to the famous Mother Shipton's Cave.

We can advise confidently on Knaresborough as we used to have our cookshop shop there!

Ripon, another market town, is just 20 minutes away, the market being on a Thursday there. The cathedral is stunning. Just a couple of minutes beyond is the Lightwater Valley Theme Park with rides and attractions for all the family and a Designer Outlet open all year.

Pateley Bridge and Grassington are just a short drive away and are well worth a visit with lots of lovely walks, shops and tea rooms.

Brimham Rocks, owned by the National Trust, (you only pay for car parking) are an amazing collection of weird and wonderful rock formations, which makes for a great day out.

The ancient and wonderful city of York is a 30-45-minute drive away (or as mentioned, by train or bus). The beautiful Minster, the Shambles, Betty's tearooms and the Yorvik Museum are just a few of the attractions.
